Young Iranian male and female archers have delivered awe-inspiring performances at the second stage of the 2016/17 Indoor Archery World Cup in Thailand, and managed to win the title of the renowned tournament.
Iran’s Sogand Rahmani recorded impressive displays in the final match of the recurve cadet women's division, and clinched a 7-1 victory over her compatriot Parisa Rohanian to snatch the gold medal. Arezoo Asgari of Iran claimed the third spot in the same category.
Matin Sabzi, meanwhile, could not overcome his Thai contender Maximilian Hahn in the final round of the recurve cadet men’s section, and received the silver medal.
Vahid Behdani also lost his final men’s junior showdown to Mongolia’s Bataa Purevsuren, and scooped the silver medal.
Additionally, Iranian female junior archer Fatemeh Hajiallahyar trounced Pirada Kuekulkawinwong of Thailand in the final round of the recurve category. Maryam Karami, another Iranian representative in the same group, could bag a bronze medal.
Armin Pakzad and Danial Heidarzadeh also picked up the silver and bronze medals of the compound youth open respectively.
In the recurve cadet men’s section events, Iran’s Seyyed Abolfazl Hosseini thrashed his Thai opponent 6-4 in the final meet and claimed the title.
The second stage of the 2016/17 Indoor Archery World Cup opened in Bangkok, Thailand, on December 10, and concluded the following day.
Iranian archers were awarded three medals, including one gold, at the Indoor Archery World Cup - Stage 1. The tournament opened in Marrakesh, Morocco, on November 26, 2016, and finished the next day.
