The Iranian men’s national kabaddi team has triumphed over Kenya for the fourth straight win at the preliminary round of the 6th edition of Dr BR Ambedkar World Cup Kabaddi in India.
On Tuesday, the Iranian athletes notched up a dominant 65-36 victory over the East African squad in a Group B match held in the town of Begowal in the northern Indian state of Punjab, Iran's Kabaddi Federation reported on its website.
It came a day after the Iranian outfit outplayed Argentina 72-27 in its previous match in Moonak town.
The Iranian men’s national kabaddi team will clash with the United States in its last group stage fixture on November 13.
The sixth edition of Dr BR Ambedkar World Cup Kabaddi started in Punjab on November 3, and will wrap up on November 17.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has been drawn in Group B along with Argentina, Australia, Kenya, Tanzania and the US.
Britain, Canada, Sri Leone, Sri Lanka, Sweden, and the hosts India are pitted against each other in Group A.
The Iranian team comprises of Alireza Safari, Behnam Javidi, Mostafa Sadeqzadeh, Payman Eskandaria, Hamid Ziraki, Amir Dehqan, Maysam Ghanbari, Behnam Khabbazi, Mohammad Moqaddasi, Saeed Jahandar, Mojtaba Shadkam, Shayan Naddafi, Nasser Sahraei and Payman Cheraqi. It is led by head coach Morteza Shahidi.
