Yemeni army and popular forces have launched rocket and artillery attacks on Saudi military bases in retaliation for Riyadh’s deadly aggression.

Yemen’s al-Masirah television said the Yemeni forces fired artillery shells at several military bases, including al-Karas in the southwestern region of Jizan on Wednesday.

The Yemeni forces also launched rocket and artillery assault at a military base in the province of Najran in southwestern Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Riyadh conducted airstrikes on several residential areas in the districts of Sahar and Hidan in the Yemeni province of Sa’ada.

There were no immediate reports of possible casualties among the residents.

Earlier, a driver and his aide were killed as Saudi jets targeted a truck loaded with relief materials in Ghamar district of the same province.

Despite the ongoing Saudi air attack on the impoverished country, the Yemeni forces on Wednesday managed to thwart an attempt by Saudi-backed mercenaries to advance in Jawf province.

Saudi Arabia launched its military aggression against Yemen in late March last year in a bid to bring the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a Riyadh ally, back to power.

Over 8,270 people, among them 2,236 children, have been killed and 16,015 others injured since the onset of the aggression. The strikes have also taken a heavy toll on the country’s facilities and infrastructure, destroying many hospitals, schools, and factories.
