Iranian player Morteza Pouraliganji has signed with the Qatari professional association soccer club Al Sadd, which plays in the first level Qatar Stars League.
The 23-year-old, who played for Iran men’s national soccer team at the 2015 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup in Australia last January, has signed a four-month contract with the Doha-based club Al Sadd until the end of the season. No information about the fee of the deal was immediately available.
He had traveled to the Qatari capital city of Doha several days ago to undergo medical examinations.
Pouraliganji started his professional playing career with Naft Tehran Football Club in 2010, and netted his first senior goal in a 4-1 victory over Paykan Football Club at the Persian Gulf Pro League, also known as Iran Pro League (IPL), the next year.
On February 25, 2015, the Iranian soccer player joined Chinese Super League club Tianjin Teda on a one–year contract, and made his debut for the club in a match against Henan Jianye on April 8, 2015.
Earlier this month, Pouraliganji dismissed several offers from European and Chinese soccer clubs, and instead opted to establish himself in Al Sadd line-up to play alongside Spanish professional footballer Xavier Hernández Creus, commonly known as Xavi.
Xavi currently plays as a central midfielder for Al Sadd Sports Club.
