An explosion at a mosque in northwestern Bangladesh has left a suspected bomber dead and three others wounded.
Police said Friday that the blast appeared to be an attack by a young man during Friday's weekly prayer in the mosque in Bagmara area of Rajshahi district, about 240 kilometers (150 miles) northwest of the capital, Dhaka.
"One person died on the spot and three other people were injured. It seems he was carrying the bomb and it looks like it was a suspected suicide blast," said local police chief Motiar Rahman.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but in recent years Takfiri militant groups have targeted Muslims, Hindus and Christians in the country.
On October 24, a bomb blast rocked Hussaini Dalan, a famous religious site in Dhaka. The incident left at least one person dead and dozens of others injured.
Takfiri militants pose a growing danger in Bangladesh, where a long-running political crisis has radicalized opponents of the government.
Bangladesh has one of the largest Muslim populations with 160 million people.
