A total of nine foreign sports contingents have voiced their preparedness to take part in the second edition of the Greco-Roman World Wrestling Clubs Cup, which is slated to be held in the Islamic Republic of Iran later this month.
Delegations from Armenia, Bulgaria, Egypt, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine will head to Iran on Tuesday and Wednesday to compete in the two-day event.
Iranian wrestling teams of Bimeh Razi, Sina San’at Izeh, Padideh Dokouheh Andimeshk as well as Petroshimi Arvand will also be in attendance.
The second edition of the Greco-Roman World Wrestling Clubs Cup will open in Iran’s southwestern port city of Khorramshahr on December 17, and will conclude the following day.
A representative from the United World Wrestling will oversee the competitions.
On November 27, Bimeh Razi brushed aside American Titan Mercury 7-1 at the World Wrestling Clubs Cup final in Iran, and took top billing with $50,000.
Titan Mercury wrestling club claimed the second place with $30,000 in prize money.
Iran’s Kefayati Mashhad also overcame Tashir club of Armenia 7-1 in the third-place bouts and settled for the bronze podium as well as $20,000.
The two-day tournament brought a total of 15 teams together at Azadi Sport Complex in western Tehran.
