The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has urged global mobilization and public demonstrations to pressure for an end to the ongoing, heavily US-supported Israeli aggression against innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.
“Let the coming days be days of mobilization and rage, witnessing the broadest public activities to pressure for an end to the ongoing aggression against innocent civilians, and to hold the occupation officials accountable for their crimes against humanity at international courts,” the movement said in a statement on Friday.
This appeal coincided with the observance of the International Quds Day, a day dedicated pioneered by the late founder of the Islamic Republic in Iran, Imam Khomeini, to express solidarity with the Palestinian cause of liberation from Israeli occupation and aggression.
Hamas highlighted the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting that the regime had imposed a total siege on the territory for the 27th consecutive day, obstructing the entry of essential humanitarian supplies such as food, fuel, and medicine.
The blockade has exacerbated the suffering of over two million residents, leading to severe shortages and a deteriorating humanitarian situation, the movement lamented.
It emphasized that the ongoing brutal massacres in Gaza, carried out as part of Tel Aviv’s October 2023- present war of genocide on the coastal sliver, coupled with the systematic use of starvation and deprivation of basic necessities, constituted acts of genocide under international law.
The group called on the international community, particularly Arab and Muslim nations, as well as human rights organizations, to take urgent and effective measures to contribute to the siege’s removal and the cessation of the savage aggression.
In alignment with the spirit of International Quds Day, Hamas reiterated the importance of global solidarity with the Palestinian cause.
The day serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for the liberation of the holy occupied city of al-Quds, which contains the al-Aqsa Mosque -- Muslims’ third-holiest site -- and the broader Palestinian territories, it underscored.
Hamas urged all the free people worldwide to mobilize through all possible means to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Islamic Jihad: Israel root of regional crises
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, another Gaza-headquartered resistance movement, called on Arabs, Muslims, and the free people of the world to stand against the Zionist entity, which it described as the root of wars, massacres, and crises in the region.
Denouncing global silence in the face of the genocide in Gaza and the regime’s escalated deadly aggression across the occupied West Bank, it urged mass mobilization on Quds Day in solidarity with Palestinians enduring starvation and relentless aggression.
The movement warned that Israeli-American plans to fragment Palestinian society and force mass displacement of Palestinians would ultimately fail, as the steadfast resistance of the Palestinian people had already withstood more than fifteen months of relentless genocidal assault.
Mujahideen Movement: Al-Quds threatened with Judaization
Complementing Hamas's call, the Palestinian Mujahideen Movement, another resistance group, underscored the threats facing al-Quds, particularly the dangers of Judaization and desecration by illegal settler gangs and Zionist politicians.
It emphasized that the International Quds Day was a pivotal occasion for the Muslim Ummah (Nation) to reaffirm its commitment to al-Quds as its central cause.
The movement also marked Quds Day as a moment to unite ranks and redirect focus toward al-Quds, emphasizing the need for the global Islamic nation to support Palestinians facing displacement and genocide.
It called for unity among the living forces of the global nation to confront arrogant global powers and reaffirmed its belief in the inevitability of victory, asserting that no conspiracy would break Palestinians’ will or defeat their resistance.
Similarly, the Popular Resistance Committees, which gathers a number of resistance groups, described al-Quds Day as a cry against arrogance and injustice, standing for humanity and justice, and reaffirming the centrality of the Palestinian cause with al-Quds at its heart.
It called for unity among Muslims and the free people worldwide to liberate al-Quds and the al-Aqsa Mosque from Zionist occupation.
The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, another Palestinian group, marked the International Quds Day by reaffirming the Palestinian people's unwavering attachment to their homeland and their rejection of Israeli annexation, displacement, and destruction plans.
It condemned the genocide, ethnic cleansing in the West Bank, and attempts to isolate and Judaize al-Quds.
Emphasizing unity and resistance as the only path to victory, the front declared that the Palestinian people would continue to stand firm against Zionist liquidation projects until the occupation was removed from Palestinian land, with al-Quds as its capital.
The unified calls from Palestinian groups came amid reports of millions marching globally on Quds Day, which is marked annually on the last Friday of the holy fasting month of Ramdan across the international arena, to support Palestinians and denounce the ongoing Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.
In Iran, rallies were held in over 900 cities, with demonstrators expressing solidarity with Gaza and condemning the regime's decades-long occupation of Palestine.
