The Israeli regime aims to close UNRWA permanently in order to close the file of Palestinian refugees in general and abolish the right of return for Palestinians. The regime’s Knesset passed a law on October 28, 2024, prohibiting UNRWA's operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
UNRWA has transferred thousands of refugee files from Gaza and the West Bank to a safe location, stating that preservation of Palestinian refugee files is vital to protecting their rights under international law. The Israeli ban on UNRWA's activities is to come into effect on January 28. The ban will severely disrupt humanitarian aid delivery to Palestinians in Gaza.
In this episode of the Spotlight, Saeb Shaath, author and West Asia expert from Belfast, and Yves Engler, author and political activist out of Montreal, look deeper into the Israeli regime’s plans for cutting off Palestinians' lifeline and preventing their return to their motherland.
