US-Israeli Gaza Genocide

Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip have woken up to more Israeli strikes as the regime in Tel Aviv presses ahead with its genocidal campaign against the blockaded territory. In one of the latest strikes, at least two people were killed after Israeli warplanes bombed a residential building in the Al-Nasr neighborhood, near Rafah, southern Gaza. Casualties were also reported after regime forces targeted a group of civilians near the Abdul Aziz Mosque in the central Gaza Strip. Israeli drones also carried out a similar strike, killing several Palestinians in the Nuseirat refugee camp, in central Gaza. The Israeli aggression against Gaza began in October 2023. Since then, nearly 45,500 Palestinians have been killed and over 108,000 others injured. Lack of food, water and other basic necessities is also taking its toll on the Gaza population.

Iran 2009 rallies anniversary

Iranians take to the streets across the country to mark the anniversary of nationwide rallies that ended the post-election riots of 2009. Rallies have already been held in several Iranian cities and more are expected to take place in the coming hours. The centerpiece is a demonstration that is planned in the capital Tehran in the evening. Iranians marched on the streets in December 2009 to show their support for the government and to denounce the months-long riots that followed the presidential election of that year. The rallies put an end to what came to be known as the 2009 sedition. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps issued a statement on the occasion. The force has said the 2009 incidents were a plot by the West against Iran. The IRGC once again reiterated its readiness to counter enemies’ plots to create insecurity in the country.

A South Korean passenger plane with 181 people onboard crashes during landing in the country’s south.  The plane was attempting a belly landing at Muan International Airport in the south of the country when it caught fire, leaving all but two dead. According to fire officials, the process of recovering and locating the remains is time-consuming as the plane is almost completely destroyed. The cause of the accident is presumed to be a bird strike combined with adverse weather conditions. However, the exact cause is expected to be announced after a thorough investigation.
