The involvement of the US in Syria has been known, first in terms its failed war on Syria and in turn its failure to topple Assad, then in the occupation of Syrias oilfields. It turns out that the US had intel there was going to be an effort to topple Assad weeks prior to the offensive that toppled al-Assad's regime, and prepared another militant group to coordinate with the al-Qaeda-linked HTS to make sure Assad was ousted from power.
