The Israeli regime has launched over a dozen airstrikes on residential buildings in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

The official National News Agency said Israeli warplanes launched a series of strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Tuesday.

The strikes came soon after the Israeli military issued evacuation orders for residents of four southern Beirut neighborhoods.

The NNA also reported Israeli strikes across Lebanon’s south that destroyed a building in the main southern city of Nabatiyeh.

There were also attacks on a town in the vicinity of Baalbek, in the Bekaa region of eastern Lebanon.

The city of Hermel in that region was also targeted, killing two and injuring six.

Earlier, the regime bombed a residential building in the southern city of Tyre, leaving three civilians dead and several others injured.

For nearly a year, the Israeli aggression was mostly contained to the areas along the Lebanese border with the occupied territories.

The Israeli campaign of death and destruction dramatically escalated on September 23 with intense Israeli airstrikes on south and east Lebanon as well as Beirut’s southern suburbs. The death toll has surpassed 3,240 since October 8, 2023.

Israel Katz says there will be no ceasefire in Lebanon

The new Israeli minister for military affairs, Israel Katz, said on X on Tuesday that during a meeting with military officials, he reiterated that Israel will continue hitting Hezbollah resistance movement with full force and that there will be no ceasefire.

His statement is contrary to the Israeli regime’s claims that the two sides are making “progress” in the ceasefire process.

Israeli media reports have said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet has approved a ceasefire proposal.

Lebanese media have reported that “well-informed” sources suggest outgoing US President Joe Biden may soon send his envoy Amos Hochstein to Beirut, carrying specific proposals for a ceasefire.

The sources, reports say, have emphasized the need to pressure the Israeli side to lower its demands. The Lebanese side says the truce should be within the framework of UN Resolution 1701.

Hezbollah spokesman Mohammed Afif during a recent press briefing confirmed that Hezbollah has received no peace proposal despite Israeli claims otherwise.

The rhetoric by the Israeli minister comes as the aggressive Israeli forces have failed to occupy any Lebanese villages more than six weeks into the regime’s ground invasion.
