Israeli media outlets have reported the death of two more Israeli forces in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli military is facing increasingly stiff resistance.
Reporting on Saturday, the outlets said the forces belonged to the military’s Givati Brigade, an infantry force, adding that another trooper was seriously injured during confrontations with Palestinian resistance fighters.
The fatalities occurred after the troops entered a booby-trapped house in the city of Jabalia.
The structure lies near a residential building that was blown up following the intrusion of a group of Israeli troops, resulting in the death of four of the forces earlier this week.
The Israeli military itself has admitted that four of its forces had been wounded across Gaza over the past 24 hours.
A day earlier, fighters with the armed wing of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas released a statement, announcing their killing and wounding of as many as 15 Israeli troops during a complex operation in northern Gaza.
Palestinians have stepped up their resistance operations in the face of intensified Israeli aggression in northern Gaza that has claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people over the past weeks.
Announcing the death toll, Mahmoud Basal, Gaza’s chief of civil defense, recently said, “The occupation deliberately destroys more than one building in each airstrike to cause the highest number of martyrs.”
The fatalities are among the 43,300-plus Palestinians, who have been killed as a result of the Israeli regime’s October 2023-present genocidal war on the territory. Women and children comprise the majority of the victims.
