IRGC intelligence forces capture agent linked to foreign espionage service

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) intelligence forces have arrested an individual in Iran’s northwestern province of Ardabil on charges of affiliation to the spy agency of a neighboring country.

In a statement released on Thursday, the IRGC announced that servicemen from the provincial Hazrat Abbas base captured the person, whose identity was not immediately available, following a technical and surveillance operation, and handed him over to judicial authorities for legal action.

Over the past few years, Iran’s security forces have dismantled many foreign-backed terror outfits along its borders.

Last week, IRGC intelligence forces identified and dismantled a team of Takfiri terrorists in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah.

In October, Iran’s Intelligence Ministry said it had dismantled a separatist terrorist group linked to the Israeli regime that intended to infiltrate the country.
