At least four people, including two children, have been killed after Israeli warplanes bombed the Kamal Adwan Hospital in the war-torn Gaza Strip, a report says, as Israeli airstrikes have repeatedly targeted hospitals and medical centers across the besieged Palestinian territory over the past year.

On Thursday, the Israeli strikes on Kamal Adwan Hospital, situated in northern parts of the war-ravaged Gaza Strip, also left several medical staff injured and inflicted heavy damage on a warehouse containing medicines and medical supplies, said a report by The Cradle, a journalist-driven news website covering West Asia.

The Israeli strikes “targeted a desalination station in the kidney dialysis department, the engineering and maintenance departments, and water tanks in the hospital, in addition to burning a medicine and medical supplies warehouse,” the report further said, adding that the bombing hit the third floor of the hospital.

In a statement, the Palestinian Ministry of Health condemned the “repeated attacks by occupying forces” on Kamal Adwan Hospital.

“The ministry urges all international and humanitarian organizations to protect hospitals and medical staff from the occupation’s violence and crimes against health institutions in Gaza,” it stressed.

On October 23, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital warned that the facility could no longer provide healthcare services to the injured and sick due to the depletion of medical supplies.

The warning came as all three major hospitals in the northern territory area are out of service, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

“More than 150 people in the hospital are in critical condition. Every passing minute could cost the lives of the injured. The types of medicines and medical supplies have reached zero in the hospital due to the Israeli siege,” the director said at the time.

Separately on Thursday, dozens of civilians were also killed and injured in Israel’s artillery shelling of a number of houses in Beit Lahia town, north of the Gaza Strip, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

The developments come as the Israeli military has intensified its bombing and shelling campaign of northern Gaza, killing and wounding an increasing number of civilians. It has also blocked the entry of humanitarian aid, including fuel to hospitals, medical necessities and food supplies.
