13 children among 41 killed by Israeli strikes on Gaza school, refugee camps

At least 22 people were killed in Israeli strikes on Al Mufti school in Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp, officials from Al Awda and Al Aqsa hospitals said.

At least 41 people, including at least 13 children, have been killed by Israeli strikes in Gaza as the Tel Aviv regime is pressing ahead with its deadly onslaught across the blockaded Palestinian territory.

At least 22 people were killed and dozens more injured on Sunday after the Israeli artillery shelled a school housing the displaced Palestinians near the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

More than 5,000 displaced people are sheltering in the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) school, according to Gaza’s civil defense.

Among the martyred was at least one infant who was brought to the hospital with injuries, but died shortly after reaching there, according to Al Aqsa hospital.

“The situation is very difficult at Al Mufti school, with a large number of martyrs and injuries,” Khaled Abu Zaher, a paramedic told CNN.

Separately, five children were killed following the shelling of al-Shati refugee camp in northern Gaza. A dozen others were injured in the attack, as well.

Footage shows children bleeding from their faces as they are transported to the hospital.

Fatalities were also reported after Israeli warplanes struck the al-Bureij refugee camp, killing and injuring several Palestinians.

The Israeli aggression against Gaza which began in October last year has so far claimed the lives of more than 42,200 people. Over 98,000 Gazans have also been injured since then.

Hamas: Israel continues heinous massacres with US support

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said in a statement on Sunday night that the “heinous massacre committed tonight by the fascist occupation army in the Mufti school in the Nusseirat refugee camp, in the middle of the Gaza Strip… is a Zionist persistence in the brutal war of extermination against our Palestinian people.”

The resistance movement said the regime is continuing “its fascist policy based on deliberately targeting civilians in residential neighborhoods and shelters and displacement centers.”

“The Zionist enemy would not have dared to continue its heinous massacres in the Gaza Strip, or expand them in the region, had it not been for the cover provided by the US administration, and the international silence about these crimes,” it added.

“We call on the international community and the United Nations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities towards these repeated crimes, and to take immediate action to stop the ongoing aggression, and to bring the leaders of this terrorist entity to account for their crimes and violations against our Palestinian people and the peoples of the region,” it concluded.
