Israeli forces have killed four Palestinians in an attack on a vehicle in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA said in a report that the regime's forces “sneaked their way into the city and opened gunfire" on the vehicle on Wednesday.

In the wake of the attack, Palestinian factions called for a general strike on Thursday in Nablus.

The Israeli army said the attack was an “assassination operation” against five wanted resistance fighters in Nablus, including the commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.

Palestinian resistance movement Hamas also condemned the attack as a “heinous Zionist crime that is added to the record of the terrorist occupation.”

It said that “the resistance in Nablus and all the governorates of the West Bank will remain unbreakable despite the brutality of the occupation.”

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli troops and settlers have killed more than 680 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East al-Quds.

The United Nations has repeatedly warned about Israel's intensified attacks on the occupied territories, saying they can lead to a “dangerous escalation."
