Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei says Israel’s policy of terrorism and mass killing of the Palestinian people are clear examples of “war crime and crimes against humanity.”
In a statement on Sunday, Baghaei strongly condemned the continuation of Israel’s crimes against humanity and the killing of civilians in Lebanon and Palestine.
He specifically condemned the recent Israeli strikes on the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Mosque and the Ibn Rushd School, both situated in Gaza’s Deir al-Balah Governorate, which were sheltering hundreds of displaced people as well as the regime’s dozens of ferocious airstrikes against the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital Beirut, particularly in the Dahiyieh neighborhood.
“The continuation of [Israel’s] policy of terror and mass killing against the oppressed people of Palestine, who have been displaced from their homes and have taken refuge in cultural and medical centers, is a clear example of a war crime and crimes against humanity,” the Iranian spokesperson said.
He described Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the “modern age Hitler” and urged the international community to take serious and effective action to counter him.
Baghaei added that Israel’s recent assaults on sacred sites, schools, mosques and healthcare facilities in Palestine and Lebanon have been carried out by the weapons donated by the United States, comparing the attacks to the crimes by the Daesh terrorist group.
“The killing of civilians and the destruction of infrastructures are an inseparable part of the Zionism and takfiri ideas,” the Iranian spokesman pointed out.
He once again emphasized that Israel’s destabilizing moves across the region pose a serious threat to regional and international peace and stability, warning that inaction on such crimes will have “irreparable” consequences for all countries in the region and beyond.
He called on all world countries, particularly the Muslim states, to make use of their great capacities and dispatch humanitarian aid to the defenseless people of Gaza and Lebanon.
They are also required to counter the Israeli regime’s terrorism and destabilizing policy.
Israel unleashed its genocidal Gaza onslaught on October 7, 2023, after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas carried out its historic operation against the usurping entity in retaliation for the regime’s intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
In a violation of international law, Israel has been deliberately targeting Gaza schools, mosques, and hospitals in the besieged enclave, which were being used as shelters by civilians.
The regime has also escalated its deadly attacks against Lebanon after launching the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
According to Lebanon’s health ministry, the attacks have so far claimed the lives of more than 2,000 people, including 127 children and 261 women.
