Iran: Israel will be punished; we’ll cut off aggressor’s hands

The spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry says none of Israel’s crimes will go unanswered and the regime will be punished for various criminal acts it has committed.

Nasser Kan’ani made the remarks at his weekly press briefing in Tehran on Monday as he was asked about Iran’s reaction to the assassination of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the longtime leader of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, in a massive airstrike on southern Beirut on Friday using American-supplied bunker-buster bombs.

“Iran will continue its political and legal efforts and will carry out its proportionate and decisive measures,” he said.

Referring to the high capacities of Muslim states to punish Israel, he added that the Palestinian people have a rightful demand from Muslim countries to use their potentialities to exert pressure on the Zionist regime.

The United Nations Security Council has so far failed to deter the Israeli regime from committing crimes given the United States’ destructive role.

The Iranian president says it is imperative for Tehran to give a decisive response to the criminal Israeli regime.

‘Israeli aggression will not be confined to specific geography’

The Iranian spokesman said the ongoing developments in Lebanon and Israel’s previous attacks on some other regional countries proved that the regime’s acts of aggression will not be confined to a specific geography.

“Under the circumstances that the US uses sanctions as a weapon against Muslim countries, we are witnessing that Muslim states did not use their capacities in the face of the Zionist regime and the US,” Kan’ani added.

He noted that Iran has been pursuing a clear stance since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza last October, based on the need to support Palestine and maintain regional stability, peace and security.

Tehran has carried out extensive diplomatic measures aimed at halting Israel’s war against the oppressed people of Palestine and preventing its spillover into the entire region, he said.

The Iranian spokesperson emphasized that the occupiers did not achieve any of their goals during almost one year of the criminal war in Gaza and will fail to gain them in the future, saying Iran has repeatedly cautioned the international community that the war could pose a threat to regional and international peace and security.

‘Iran will cut off hands, feet of aggressors’

Kan’ani reiterated Iran’s opposition to warmongering and its efforts to promote peace, stability and security and said the country has never sat idly by any act of adventurism against its national interests and security.

Iran has proved in practice that it will stand against the aggressors and will cut off their hands and feet, he emphasized.

He noted that Israel’s acts of assassination and crimes will fail to save the regime, restore security to the occupied territories, and rebuild the broken self-confidence of the Israeli army.

Iran is wisely patient to maintain regional and global peace and security, Kan’ani said.

The spokesman, however, warned that Iran will definitely not hesitate to support its national security and that of its regional allies whenever deemed necessary.

‘US complicit in crimes against Lebanese, Palestinian people’

The Iranian spokesman reminded extra-regional and independent countries about their responsibility regarding the Palestinian issue and said the disgrace of the United States’ support for Israel’s airstrikes in Lebanon and the killing of innocent people will be recorded in US history.

He added that the US admission that it has provided one-ton bombs to Israel during its recent attack on Lebanon is nothing but Washington’s complicity in the crimes of the Zionist regime.

He emphasized that the terrorist groups in the region are just tools in the hands of the arrogant system to advance its goals.

“Iran’s bids to deal with the causes of instability in the region and stop the Zionist regime’s war crime machine have no contradiction with the continuation of its efforts to hold constructive dialogue with the world and those who are willing to interact with us to resolve problems and misunderstandings,” Kan’ani argued.

He reiterated Iran’s resolve to continue its support for regional governments and nations to counter Israel’s aggression and threats as the regime is the root cause of instability and insecurity in the region.

“We believe that the Zionist regime’s criminal and occupying approaches must end and will continue our defense for the Lebanese and Palestinian people,” the Iranian diplomat said.

He emphasized that Iran will proceed with its extensive measures to establish and promote peace, stability and security in the region.
