In a visit to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has said that Europe will continue to support the government of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Borrell, who arrived in Kiev on Saturday, said the European Union has “been supporting Ukraine since the beginning, and on this my last visit to Ukraine, I convey the same message, we will support you as much as we can."
Borrell is set to leave office next month.
Europe has spent around $125 billion on supporting Ukraine since Russia launched its “special military operation” there in 2022. And the United States alone has coughed up more than $90 billion, according to a tracker from the Kiel Institute.
In Kyiv for my 5th visit since Russia’s full-scale invasion and last one as HRVP.

Borrell's visit to Kiev as the EU's high representative for foreign and security policy comes a few days after former US President Donald Trump won the 2024 US presidential election.
Trump has repeatedly criticized the scale of US military and financial support for Kiev and has pledged to end the war with Russia quickly.
The administration of Joe Biden is reportedly planning to rush billions of dollars in military assistance to Ukraine before Biden leaves office in January.
