Gaza’s Ministry of Health has refused to receive a container carrying the bodies of 88 Palestinians, demanding that Israel provide information about their identities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the ministry said the procedures for receiving the container were suspended until the regime provides full data with the victims’ names, time of death and the location they were taken from.

This is “the minimum rights of these people and their families,” the statement read.

Separately, Gaza’s Media Office said the shipment of unidentifiable bodies was an “inhumane and criminal move.”

Some media reports said “the bodies are unidentifiable because they are mostly decomposed.”

There are signs that those bodies have been in Israel for a long time.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said the Israeli military has deliberately concealed the identities.

“There is no information about their names, genders and the location they have been kidnapped from. The circumstances of their abduction from the Gaza Strip are also unclear.”

Meanwhile, health officials at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis urged the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to seek details from Israel. The Red Cross said it was not involved in the transfer process.

“We reiterate that all families have the right to receive news about their loved ones and bury them respectfully and in line with their traditions,” said a statement issued by the ICRC.

Israel has killed nearly 41,500 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023.
