Iran: Israel’s ‘insane’ behavior requires immediate international action

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan’ani has warned that Israel’s “insane” attacks pose a threat to international peace and security, calling for immediate international action to deter the regime.

In a post published on social media platform X on Thursday, Kan’ani referred to the Israeli killing of Lebanese people using communication devices, saying, “that means the Zionist regime allows resorting to any tool and method” to kill people.

“Such insane and brutal behavior is a genuine threat to international peace and security, and deserves an immediate international action,” he said.

The spokesman also slammed the US's unwavering support for the usurping regime.

“It’s unfortunate that the US administration continues to provide unlimited support for this brutal and murderous regime. And not only it has failed to condemn this action, but its officials also continue to speak of Israel’s right to defend itself.”

His remarks came after explosions targeted pagers and other communication devices across Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing more than 30 people, including two children, and wounding some 3,500 others.

The Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah, whose members were among the casualties, blamed the unprecedented attacks on Israel.

Hezbollah also pledged to retaliate against Israel following the deadly string of explosions.

Tel Aviv has so far declined to comment on the attacks, which have already heightened global concerns that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah could escalate into a full-scale war.

Just hours before the blasts, Israel announced it was expanding its objectives in its war against the besieged Gaza Strip to also address its battle against Hezbollah along the Lebanese border.

Israel launched its brutal US-backed genocidal war on Gaza on October 7 after Hamas carried out Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.

The regime’s genocidal war on Gaza has so far killed more than 41,272 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured tens of thousands of others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under rubble.

Hezbollah has been staging hundreds of strikes against the occupying entity both in support of the war-hit Gazans and in retaliation for intensified Israeli attacks that have been targeting Lebanese soil since the onset of the current war.
