Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has offered condolences to Lebanon over the casualties caused by waves of exploding telecommunications devices, saying Israel’s “treacherous mass assassination” will not go unpunished.

He made the remarks on Thursday, after thousands of pagers and walkie-talkie radios belonging to members of the Hezbollah resistance movement detonated across Lebanon in simultaneous explosions on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing more than 30 people and wounding 3,250 others.

“We extend our deepest condolences and sympathy to the beloved people of Lebanon over the martyrdom and injuries of thousands of Lebanese citizens as a result of the treacherous mass assassination that the terrorist regime carried out by exploding communication devices without making a distinction between civilians and others,” he said in an X post.

“God is invincible and will take revenge and the criminal will definitely be punished justly.”

Pezeshkian also expressed Iran’s support for Lebanon after the terrorist attack, for which Hezbollah has vowed retaliation against Israel.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran condemns this heinous crime that targeted the Lebanese and emphasizes its support for Lebanon’s government and people. We ask international organizations to fulfill their responsibility [in this regard],” he added.

The Iranian chief executive further wished divine mercy for the martyrs and a speedy recovery for the wounded.

US media repots said the terror attack was a joint effort between the Israeli military and the Mossad spy agency.

Israeli minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant said a “new era” of war was beginning, tacitly acknowledging the regime’s role in the deadly terrorist attacks.

Experts believe explosive material was put into the low-tech systems, which Hezbollah uses to evade surveillance by Israeli spy agencies, prior to their delivery to the resistance group.

They say Israel infiltrated the supply chain and injected explosives activated by coded messages into the telecommunication devices.
