'Do not ignore Gaza suffering'

The leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution has called for unity of all Muslims against divisive plots by enemies, saying Muslims should never forget their identity as members of the Islamic Ummah. Ayatollah Khamenei made the comments in a meeting with Sunni scholars of Iran on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. The leader said the issue of Muslim unity is a Quranic principle and is the only pathway that leads to the dignity of the Islamic Ummah. Ayatollah Khamenei also noted that Muslims face hostile attempts to make them indifferent to their Islamic identity. The leader stressed that it goes against Islamic teachings for a Muslim to be ignorant of the suffering of other Muslims in Gaza or elsewhere. He also called for support for the oppressed people of Gaza and Palestine as a clear requirement of the faith.

Call for Muslim unity

Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, has called for greater cooperation among Muslim countries and wider relations between Iran and regional nations. In his first press conference, Masoud Pezeshkian urged unity among Muslim countries to be able to better confront shared adversaries. He also highlighted Iran's willingness to improve ties with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan. Pezeshkian stressed the role of foreign investment in addressing Iran’s economic challenges which requires resolving issues related to the FATF and the JCPOA. He stated that for talks to continue, the West must first lift its sanctions on Iran. Pezeshkian also criticized the US and the West for overlooking Israel's crimes against women and children in Gaza. He stressed that Iran is developing its missile technology for defense, not aggression. The president rejected claims that Iran is supplying missiles to Yemen, noting that the Yemeni resistance has its own domestic missile program.

More Gaza civilians killed

Gazans have held a funeral for the victims of an Israeli airstrike on a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp. The attack claimed the lives of at least 10 Palestinians, including children and eight family members. Another Israeli attack targeted a bakery in al-Sumoud refugee camp, killing at least 5 more Gazans and wounding many others. The southern camp is used by displaced Palestinians who are seeking shelter from Israeli bombardments. According to local authorities, Israeli attacks have killed 21 people in a single day. This brings the total number of Gazans killed since last October to over 41,220. Some 95,400 others have been injured.
