Israeli forces conduct extensive raids across occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have once again stormed towns in the West Bank as part of their stepped-up raids on Palestinian neighborhoods across the occupied territory, sparking confrontation with local residents.

Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing Palestinian security sources, reported a number of raids on Sunday in several areas of the occupied West Bank, including near al-Khalil, Ramallah and in Nablus.

Israeli forces assaulted a Palestinian family Sunday afternoon after raiding their home in the village of Abu al-Asja, southwest of al-Khalil.

The Israeli military also raided the home of Khalil Namoura, causing significant damage to the property.

A series of violent clashes erupted between Israeli forces and local Palestinian residents in the town of Beit Liqya, west of Ramallah, after a military incursion into the city, the report said. Israeli soldiers opened live ammunition.

Israeli forces stormed several areas in the Nablus governorate and threw tear gas canisters at residents.

Extremist Israeli settlers and soldiers also stormed several villages and towns in the occupied West Bank overnight Saturday, leading to confrontations with Palestinian residents.

This comes as Israeli forces have been conducting a series of military assaults in the northern West Bank for the past  weeks, with extended raids in Tubas, Jenin and Tulkarm.

Violence by Israeli forces and settlers has surged in the West Bank since the start of Israeli genocidal campaign in Gaza in early October 2023.

Palestinians say such offensive are aimed at cementing Israel’s seemingly open-ended military rule over the occupied territory.

More than 700 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October 7.

Rights groups have warned of escalating violence in the West Bank and the use of tactics by Israeli forces that the world has witnessed in its war on Gaza.
