Hamas asserts resistance will intensify anti-Israel operations in West Bank

A high-ranking official with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says the resistance fighters in the occupied West Bank will intensify operations against the Israeli regime, amid its ongoing deadly raids.

“There is a Palestinian decision to expand the operations in the West Bank in terms of geographical scope and quality,” Husam Badran, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, told al-Mayadeen television network on Thursday.

Amid escalated Israeli raids in the West Bank, the Hamas official said resistance factions in the occupied territories have become a source of concern for the Israeli regime since their strength has gone up and their anti-Israel operations have been developed.

He said the resistance in the West Bank “enjoys a unique national consensus.”

Badran also downplayed Israel’s plots to destroy the resistance in the West Bank, saying they will fail as the previous ones did, especially as most of the fighters are young people.

‘Al-Aqsa in greater danger than Gaza genocide’

Badran also said the October 7 al-Aqsa Storm operation showed the world that Israel aims at destroying the Palestinian cause, and that al-Aqsa Mosque, al-Quds and the West Bank face “the greatest danger”, even bigger than that the Gaza Strip faces.

He said the resistance factions have “a clear plan” which is to proceed with their operations whether in Gaza, the West Bank or the 1948-occupied territories.

“The resistance factions are working based on clear visions and plans to increase the pace of the acts of resistance, including in the West Bank.”

Commenting on the ongoing talks aimed to reach a ceasefire deal in Gaza, Badran said the stance taken by Hamas is “clear” and comes in coordination with all other Palestinian resistance factions.

He noted that the talks mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the US “haven’t brought anything new until now”, noting that the US claims of progress made in the negotiations aim to "serve its own interests”.

“The continuation of talks doesn’t hinder the acts of resistance because our goal is clear and we seek to achieve it by all means.”

He noted that the Israeli regime is committing more massacres against the Palestinian civilians as it has failed to achieve any of its declared goals in Gaza.

Israel launched the campaign of genocide in Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.

The regime has killed more than 40,600 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza ever since. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under rubble.

The West Bank has also seen a rise in violence from Israeli forces and settlers that claimed the lives of hundreds of Palestinians.

In the early hours of Wednesday, the Israeli military conducted its biggest operation – dubbed “Camps of Summer” – in the West Bank in over 20 years, deploying hundreds of troops and airstrikes on Jenin, Tulkarem, and Tubas, which are major centers of Palestinian resistance against the usurping entity.

At least 20 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli raids and strikes in several towns, with many more sustained injuries. Eleven of them were killed in Jenin, five in Tulkarm and four in Tubas, Wafa reported, citing medical sources.
