US-Israeli Gaza genocide

Three dozen Palestinians have been killed and many more wounded in the latest Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. The strikes hit different locations in the Gaza Strip, from the south to the north of the territory. The deadliest attack took place in the southern city of Khan Yunis where 20 Palestinians lost their lives. The total Palestinian death toll has now surpassed the grim milestone of 40,000 since the start of the war in early October. Many of those killed are women and children. More than 92,400 people have been injured. According to the UN rights chief, an average of about 130 people have been killed every day in Gaza over the past 10 months.

Israeli settler violence

The UN’s special rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestine says sanctions must be imposed on Israel over settler violence against Palestinians. Francesca Albanese said sanctions need to go beyond individual settlers and the regime’s settlement construction. She stressed that time to act is now. This came after Israeli settlers, backed by forces, attacked a Palestinian village near the city of Qalqiliyah in the occupied West Bank. They set several houses and cars on fire, killing a Palestinian man and injuring another. Hamas resistance movement strongly condemned the aggression, saying the attack will not deter Palestinians from pursuing the path to freedom. Over 630 Palestinians have been killed across the West Bank since Israel started its genocidal war on Gaza in early October.

Russia-Ukraine war

Ukraine says its forces have taken control of the Russian town of Sudzha in the Kursk region. President Volodymyr Zelensky said a military commander’s office has been set up in the town home to around 5,000 people. Still, no comment by Russia. Ukraine claims to have seized over 1100 square kilometers of the Kursk region since it launched its offensive on August 6. Moscow, meanwhile, says it has recaptured a village from Ukrainian forces in Kursk. It also says it is sending additional forces to the neighboring Belgorod region. Russia has so far evacuated thousands of residents from its border areas.
