US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The relentless Israeli onslaught on Gaza continues to claim Palestinian lives as the regime is pressing ahead with air and artillery strikes across the blockaded territory. Several Palestinians are killed and injured in the latest Israeli bombing of homes in the al-Bureij refugee camp. The Israeli military also killed one child and injured several others in airstrikes on homes in Dayr al-Balah, in central Gaza. Also in Dayr al-Balah, one person was killed after the Israeli military targeted a group of Palestinians there. An unknown number of people have also been killed in Israeli shelling of several areas across Gaza. The Israel aggression, which began in October, has so far killed nearly 40,000 Palestinians and injured more than 92,000 others.

Israel West Bank atrocities

There is no end in sight into Israeli violence, whether in Gaza or the West Bank. A number of Palestinians have been killed and injured during fresh Israeli raids on several areas of the occupied territory. One of the raids took place in the city of Ramallah. The regime’s forces shot four people there. One of them was killed and another is in critical condition. In another raid on the city of El-Bireh, a Palestinian was injured and two residential buildings were destroyed with explosives. Earlier on Monday, an 18-year-old Palestinian was shot dead in a town near the city of Qalqilya. He had been released in the prisoner exchange deal between the Palestinian resistance and Israel in November. Since the beginning of the Gaza genocide, over 620 Palestinians, including 144 children, have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank.

Call to punish aggressor

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a telephone call with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, has said that Tehran is not in favor of war but considers a punitive response to aggressor the legal right of countries. Pezeshkian made the remarks in an apparent reference to the Israeli assassination of the Hamas chief, Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. He criticized Western countries for their support to the Israeli regime, calling it irresponsible and contrary to international norms. The Iranian president also condemned the international community’s silence on Israeli crimes. Starmer, for his part, expressed deep concern over the tense situation in the region over the Gaza war and the assassination Haniyeh. His comments came as Israel keeps spiraling into deeper anxiety as Iran has vowed to avenge Haniyeh’s assassination in Tehran, which was a violation of the country’s sovereignty.
