Yemeni air defenses have shot down another US MQ-9 Reaper drone over Yemeni airspace, amid escalated tensions with the Israeli regime.

The spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces Yahya Saree said the country’s air defense units had successfully shot down the American drone while it was conducting hostile activities in the airspace over the Yemeni province of Sa'ada.

Saree said in a televised statement on Sunday that the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was targeted with a locally made surface-to-air missile.

According to Saree, this is the seventh aircraft of this kind that the Yemeni air defenses have shot down since the start of the operations in support of the defenseless Palestinian people trapped in the Gaza Strip.

He said the advanced American UAV was shot down during the Battle of the Promised Conquest and the Holy Jihad in support of Gaza.

The naval and missile forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces also carried out a joint military operation in which they targeted the “Groton” ship in the Gulf of Aden with many ballistic missiles, and the hit was accurate, he said.

He added that the ship was targeted because the company that owns it violated Yemen's decision to ban entry to the ports of occupied Palestine.

The spokesperson affirmed that the Yemeni Armed Forces will continue to enhance their defense capabilities to confront the joint US-British aggression against their homeland, and will carry on conducting pro-Palestine operations until the Israeli war on Gaza stops and the total siege on the coastal Palestinian territory is completely lifted.

Yemen has been conducting operations against the British and American warships that have been dispatched to the Red Sea to confront the Yemeni strikes.

Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the Israelis in response to the regime's decades-long campaign of death and destruction of Palestinians.

The Israeli war on Gaza has so far killed at least 39,550 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured 91,280 more, according to Palestinian health officials.
