Iran’s attorney general has ordered a swift investigation into the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in cooperation with the military, law enforcement and security forces to “arrest, prosecute and punish the perpetrators.”
In a statement, Mohammad Movahedi Azad instructed the appointment of a special investigation team to examine various aspects of the assassination.
“They should take appropriate legal action against any potential negligence or fault and use all domestic and international capacities with determination and resolve to arrest, prosecute, and punish the perpetrators of this terrorist act.”
He condemned the “horrific crime”, which, he said, was carried out in desperation and demonstrated the “vileness of its instigators and perpetrators”.
‘Perpetrators to face severe retribution’
Iran’s Chief Justice Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei also extended condolences on the martyrdom of Haniyeh, which, he said, was “a blessed end for him and a source of pride and honor for the resilient and oppressed Palestinian nation.”
He warned that the perpetrators would face harsh punishment for the “cowardly terrorist move”.
“The wicked, cowardly, and criminal elements involved in the martyrdom of Martyr Haniyeh should know that the pure blood of this martyr will double the zeal, wrath, and greatness of the resistance front against the usurping Zionists, and they will face severe retribution and revenge,” he said.
The martyrdom would further ignite the wrath of the combative and epic-making Palestinian nation.
