US-Israel Gaza genocide

Israel presses ahead with its onslaught on Gaza, killing more Palestinians across the besieged territory. Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in Khan Yunis where the regime strikes are the most intense. Many Palestinians remain trapped by the fighting in Khan Yunis. The UN says they were unable to flee after Israeli forces only gave them an hour to evacuate. Other parts of Gaza have been under heavy bombardment as well. Nearly 90 Palestinians were killed in a matter of 24 hours. The total death toll since early October now tops 39,140. Palestinians blame the US for the genocide in Gaza, saying Israel has the blessing of Washington in every strike.

Call for Gaza truce deal

Israelis have hit the streets in Tel Aviv again to demand Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agree to a deal with Hamas to secure the return of captives from Gaza. The protesters, including the families of the captives marched to the Foreign Ministry, chanting slogans such as “We won’t abandon them” and “Every captive has to return”. Israelis have been holding anti-regime demonstrations with similar demands almost on a daily basis. There have been several rounds of ceasefire talks, but Netanyahu stands accused of blocking a deal by refusing to accept Hamas’ conditions. The Palestinian resistance group says Israel needs to stop Gaza onslaught to reach a deal on ceasefire and captives. Netanyahu is currently in the US at the invitation of Republican and Democratic leaders where he will address congress. Netanyahu’s visit amid Washington’s support for the Israeli war has sparked political divisions and outrage among the American public.

Israel Olympics ban

Anti-Israel activists have gathered in the French capital to protest against the ongoing genocide in Gaza and demand a ban on the regime’s participation in the Paris Olympic Games. Protesters called for the expulsion of the Israeli delegation. That echoed an earlier call by the Palestine Olympic Committee that Israeli bombings of Gaza are a breach of the ancient tradition of truce during the Games. In a letter to the International Olympic Committee, it said that Israeli forces have killed around 400 Palestinian athletes in Gaza and destroyed sports facilities there. A global campaign was also launched to ban Israel from the 2024 Olympics, with activists using social media to pressure the organizers. Demonstrations held in several European countries, including France and Switzerland, demanding Israel's exclusion. However, IOC has refused to ban Israeli athletes from participating in the event.
