Elon Musk claims he has survived two assassination attempts

Elon Musk speaks at the Milken Conference 2024 in Beverly Hills, California, May 6, 2024.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk claims he has been the target of two assassination attempts over the past several months.

Musk, chief executive officer of SpaceX and Tesla and owner of social media platform X, made the remark hours after former president Donald Trump survived what appeared to be an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

In a post on X, Musk said, “two people (separate occasions) have already tried to kill me in the past 8 months.” He said the attackers “were arrested with guns about 20 minutes drive from Tesla HQ in Texas.”

Musk made the statement in response to an X user who said that “if they can come for Trump they will also come for you.”

Commenting on the incident happened at Trump’s rally, the Tesla CEO said, “Dangerous times ahead.”

While Musk hadn’t directly endorsed Trump prior to Saturday’s event, he said in a separate post on X that he “fully endorse[s] President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery.”

He also made it clear that he was opposing President Joe Biden’s return to the White House.

Musk had claimed in a post in March that he was not going to donate money to either candidate for president.

But Bloomberg said in a report on Friday that he has donated a “sizable” but undisclosed amount to a pro-Trump super PAC called America PAC.

And the Wall Street Journal reported recently that the former president and the tech entrepreneur had forged close ties in recent months.

Citing anonymous sources, the journal said the two were in secret talks over the possibility of nominating Musk as a White House adviser should Trump win the November election.

Musk is the wealthiest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of about $250 billion, according to Forbes.
