Protesters rally in Berlin to demand end to 'genocide' in Gaza

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators took to the streets of Berlin on Saturday to call on the German government to withdraw its support for Tel Aviv and demand an end to what they called Israeli 'genocide' against the Palestinian people.

Footage shows protesters marching while waving Palestinian flags and keffiyehs. Many can be seen drumming and chanting 'Israel is a terrorist state', 'Free, free Palestine' and 'Zionists out'. Some protesters can also be seen holding up signs reading 'Believe Palestinian women' and 'Rafah'.

The rally comes after the German parliament voted to ban the inverted red triangle symbol earlier this month. Although the motion received a majority in parliament, opposition parties did not support it, with some claiming a total ban on symbols may infringe on the rights of assembly or freedom of opinion.

This symbol is used in videos released by Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, to mark Israeli targets.

Since October 7, many supporters of the resistance group have started to use this symbol as a show of support for Palestinian resistance.
