US-Israeli genocide in Gaza

The death toll continues to rise in the Gaza Strip as the Israeli onslaught grinds on across the besieged territory. An Israeli airstrike targeted a gathering in the northern Gaza City. Five Palestinians were killed, four of them from the same family. A Palestinian journalist also died of wounds sustained in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City. That raises the journalists’ death toll since last October to 153. The Israeli artillery also continued its bombardment of the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, and north of the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip. To the south, at least eight Palestinians lost their lives in the Israeli bombing of displaced people in Khan Yunis. The death toll from the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza since October 7 has risen to 37,900 while another 87,000 have been injured.

Israel rights violations

A Geneva-based human rights organization says numerous documents show the Israeli forces have systematically used Palestinian civilians as human shields. Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor described the tactic as a war crime that has extensively occurred in both the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It stated that the Israeli forces have deliberately placed Palestinian civilians, including children, in strategic positions where they are exposed to grave danger. It also documented instances where Palestinians were forced to break into buildings or tunnels and search for explosives. The organization said Palestinian patients at Gaza’s Shifa Medical Complex have also been used as human shields when regime forces raided the place. It emphasized that the use of civilians as human shields is strictly prohibited under international law. Euro-Med called for effective sanctions to be imposed on Israel over its grave rights violations.

Yemen retaliatory operations

Yemeni forces carried out four more naval operations against Israel-linked ships in retaliation for the Gaza genocide and the American-British aggression against Yemen. In a statement, Yemen’s Armed Forces said an Israeli ship was directly hit in the Arabian Sea using cruise missiles. An American ship was also directly hit in the Red Sea by a number of ballistic and cruise missiles. Yemeni forces hit a British landing ship in the Indian Ocean. They also targeted a ship in the Mediterranean Sea using cruise missiles. Sana’a says the targeted ships had violated a ban on vessels bound for the ports in occupied Palestine. The Yemeni armed forces have repeatedly said operations in support of the Palestinians will continue as long as Israel keeps committing genocide in Gaza.
