The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has targeted a military base in southeastern Syria near the borders with Jordan and Iraq, where US occupation troops and their allied Takfiri militants are stationed.

The umbrella group of anti-terror fighters, in a statement, claimed responsibility for the Saturday drone strike.

It noted that the al-Tanf base, located in Syria’s Homs province, was targeted by several explosives-laden drones, and the designated targets were precisely struck and destroyed.

There were no immediate reports about possible casualties and the extent of damage caused.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq further noted that the aerial attack was in response to the death of one of an Iraqi resistance fighter in an apparent US airstrike on the Iraq-Syria border.

The Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada anti-terror resistance group said in a statement that the vehicle of one of its fighters, identified as Abdullah Razzaq al-Safi, was hit on Friday in “a treacherous American bombing,” adding that he was patrolling the Iraqi-Syrian border when the airstrike took place.

Meanwhile, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a Britain-based war monitor, said on Friday that an unknown airstrike targeted a site in the Albu Kamal area, killing an Iraqi resistance fighter and wounding two others.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq has been launching several attacks on Israeli targets ever since the occupying regime started the genocidal war on Gaza last year in October.

Israel has been waging an atrocious onslaught against the Gaza Strip, targeting hospitals, residences, and houses of worship after Palestinian resistance movements launched a surprise attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, on October 7.

At least 37,551 Palestinians have been killed, most of them women and children, and another 85,911 individuals have sustained injuries in Gaza so far. More than 1.7 million people have been internally displaced during the war as well.
