Thousands of people in Kashmir gathered on Thursday to participate in a condolence rally to pay their respects to Iran's late President Ebrahim Raeisi, who was martyred in a helicopter crash alongside several companions earlier in the week.
"We recognize the importance of unity, respect and mutual understanding. Our thoughts are with the Iranian nation as they strive for peace and progress," local Muzammil Hussain told AFP.
Religious scholar Syed Aknoon paid homage to the Iranian leaders who lost their lives in the crash, saying "They actually sacrificed their lives in the path of the Almighty."
