Gaza war

The Gaza Strip remains under Israeli airstrikes and shelling, while at the same time, it’s witnessing ground clashes in various areas including in the north. The Jabalia refugee camp is now a flashpoint between the regime’s forces and Palestinian resistance fighters. The military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement says its fighters have targeted invading troopers in eastern Jabalia. Fighters from other groups are also putting up resistance to the Israeli military in the southern city of Rafah. The military wing of Hamas has fired mortar shells at the regime’s soldiers in southeastern Rafah. The city is facing threats of a full-scale Israeli invasion. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have already fled Rafah since the Israeli military began its advance on the city. More than seven months have passed since the start of the US-Israeli genocide in Gaza. The death toll now tops 35,300.

Call for Israel FIFA suspension

The Palestinian Football Association has called for the immediate suspension of Israel from FIFA, football's world governing body, over the regime’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. Palestine FA president Jibril Rajoub issued the statement during the meeting of FIFA’s governing body in Bangkok, Thailand. The head of the Israeli regime’s football association, however, called the Palestinian proposal "cynical attempt to harm Israeli football". That’s as the FIFA president said the body would seek an independent legal opinion on Palestine’s request. The Asian Football Confederation on Thursday gave its backing to the proposal by Palestine for immediate and appropriate sanctions against Israeli teams. Football associations of several countries have also thrown their weight behind the request to suspend Israel from FIFA.

Russia-China partnership

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has once again hailed his country’s relations with Beijing, calling them strategic and impactful. Putin was delivering a speech at a trade and investment expo in the city of Harbin on the second day of his official visit to China. He also talked about the growing ties between the two countries in energy and industrial sectors. On Thursday, Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping met in Beijing and issued a joint statement about the "new era" that proclaimed opposition to the US on a host of security issues and a shared view on everything, from Taiwan and Ukraine to North Korea. The two leaders vowed to work together against what they called the destructive and hostile US pressure. Putin and Xi also stressed that Moscow-Beijing relations are conducive to peace and that the two sides want to uphold fairness and justice in the world.
