The armed wing of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, says it has fired a barrage of rockets on an Israeli military position on Gaza’s southern border with the occupied territories, killing and wounding over a dozen of the regime's soldiers.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, al-Qassam Brigades said its fighters bombarded gatherings of Israeli forces at the Kerem Shalom crossing and its surroundings with the 114 mm short-range Rajoom rocket system.

According to Israeli media, three occupation forces were killed as a result of the resistance’s rocket attack on the regime’s military site at Kerem Shalom.

Some Israeli media reports put the number of the regime's soldiers wounded in the al-Qassam Brigades’ operation at 15, adding that several of them are in critical condition.

The Israeli military has officially admitted to the killing of three officers and the wounding of over a dozen soldiers in the Kerem Shalom operation east of the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

The Israeli military added that 14 rockets were fired, taking just 8 seconds to reach their targets where its soldiers were undergoing preparations for the invasion of Rafah.

An Israeli military spokesman claimed that the regime’s warplanes have destroyed the launchers from which the projectiles were fired.

The operation by Hamas’ military wing came despite the fact that the regime has been taking extreme precautions to reduce its military casualties.

However, the Israeli occupation forces were not able to defend themselves against the rocket attack and suffered a high number of casualties. For unknown reasons, no interceptor missiles were fired either.

Osama Hamdan, a senior Hamas official and the movement’s representative in Lebanon, said the operation at Kerem Shalom was a message to the occupation regime that the consequences of any adventurous step by its forces will not be as it imagines.
