Iran says the aggression by the United States and Britain on Yemen is a violation of the country's territorial integrity and in line with support for Israel's crimes against the oppressed people of Palestine.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with Mohammed Abdulsalam, the senior representative of Yemen’s National Salvation Government, in the Omani capital of Muscat on Sunday.
Amir-Abdollahian commended the brave support of the Yemeni armed forces for the oppressed Palestinian people in the battle against Israel over the past six months.
In recent months, the US and its allies have launched illegal attacks on Yemen amid their frustration in the face of an anti-Israel maritime campaign by the Yemeni armed forces.
Israel waged a US-backed genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip on October 7 following a historic operation by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group against the occupying regime.
In support of Gaza, Yemeni armed forces have targeted Israeli ships going to and from ports in the occupied territories, or those linked to Israel, in the southern Red Sea, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and even in the Arabian Sea.
The US-led attacks on Yemen prompted the country’s military to declare American and British vessels to be legitimate targets.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Amir-Abdollahian said the recent Israeli terrorist attacks on Iran's diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital of Damascus were carried out with the use of US-made aircraft.
"There is no doubt that the Islamic Republic of Iran, in addition to the legal and international measures, will use its recognized rights within the framework of international law to hold the criminal aggressors accountable and punish them," the top Iranian diplomat emphasized.
He added that opposition of the US, Britain and France to a United Nations Security Council's statement in condemnation of Israel's attacks exposed their political hypocrisy as well as their open support for Israel's crimes and acts of adventurism and expansion of instability and insecurity across the region.
On April 1, Israeli warplanes bombed the Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in the Mezzeh neighborhood in the Syrian capital Damascus.
A senior commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)’s Quds Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi were among the seven Iranian martyrs of the terrorist attack.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday that Israel will receive a slap in the face for its terrorist attack.
Iran's President Ebrahim Raeisi also vowed punishment for those responsible for Israel’s terrorist attack.
Abdulsalam, for his part, said Yemen’s National Salvation Government expresses its solidarity with Iran over the recent Israeli crime of killing several Iranian military advisors in Damascus.
He added that the Yemeni people completely support Yemen's attacks against Israeli targets in the Red Sea in support of the war-ravaged Palestinians.
He emphasized that the US attacks on Yemen are aimed at exerting more pressure on the Yemeni people and mounting their economic problems.
However, Yemen’s National Salvation Government has issued necessary warnings to the US and would never withdraw from its principled stance.
