Western aggression on Yemen
The US and UK have carried out a series of airstrikes on Yemen, amid heightened tensions in the West Asia region over Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza. The airstrikes hit the capital Sana’a as well as the cities of Hudaydah, Sa’ada, and Dhamar. They targeted an airbase, airports and a military camp. US media say Tomahawk missiles and fighter jets were used in the attacks. US President Joe Biden says the bombing was launched at his direction. He added that the strikes were a direct response to what he called unprecedented attacks by Yemeni armed forces on Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea. Biden said the Yemeni attacks have threatened freedom of navigation, and endangered American personnel and US partners. He also said the strikes on Yemen were conducted with support from Bahrain, Canada, the Netherlands, and Australia.
Yemen attacks condemned
Reactions are pouring in following the US-led aggression on Yemen, with Iran and resistance movements in the region strongly condemning the attacks. The Islamic Jihad says the aggression is part of Western support for Israel, and shows that Washington manages the Gaza war. Hamas has called the US and UK attacks an uncalculated terrorist act conducted under the influence of the Israeli regime. Lebanon's Hezbollah movement also said that the aggression is yet another proof of US complicity in what it called catastrophes in Gaza and the region. Iran has denounced the violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It said the attacks violate international law and will foment insecurity in the region. Russia accused the US and UK of destructive escalation in Yemen, and called for a UN Security Council meeting on Friday. Saudi Arabia and China expressed concern, with Riyadh urging restraint.
Israel Gaza genocide
More Palestinian civilians are falling victim to intense Israeli attacks on Gaza where nearly 23,500 people have already died since October 7. Health officials in Gaza said over a dozen civilians were killed in airstrikes on Rafah and Khan Younis, both in south of the Gaza Strip. In central Gaza in Deir al-Balah, a Palestinian journalist was killed in an airstrike near al-Aqsa hospital. The Government Media Office in Gaza says the Israeli regime is using genocide and starvation as a policy to force the Palestinians out of the territory. That's in reference to a comment by a far-right Israeli minister who called for encouraging Palestinians to emigrate from Gaza. The media office called on the international community to condemn the heinous Israeli atrocities and displacement.
