US-Israeli genocide
Almost three months into Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, the regime’s warplanes and artillery keep pounding the blockaded territory. Health officials in Gaza say Israeli forces have dropped more than a dozen bombs across Gaza in the past day, killing more than 150 civilians. That includes 15 people who were killed in a bombardment of a residential building in the city of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. Nine Palestinians, mostly children, were killed in an artillery shelling that targeted a house in in the Nuseirat refugee camp. The Israeli military also carried out a missile strike on Rafah in the south and shelled the Jabalia refugee camp in the north. The regime has intensified its attacks in and around refugee camps, including Nuseirat, al-Maghazi and al-Bureij. Twenty-two thousand and 185 Palestinians have been killed since the US-Israeli genocide began in early October. Despite global demands for a ceasefire, the Israeli military says the onslaught is expected to continue throughout the year.
Haniyeh: victory is close
The head of Hamas' political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, says the Palestinian resistance remains firm and determined in fighting off Israel’s genocidal onslaught in Gaza. Haniyeh highlighted the resilience and steadfastness of the Palestinians in Gaza despite displacement, destruction, and massacres. He added that Hamas is ready for talks that would lead to a political solution securing the right of Palestinians for an independent state with al-Quds as its capital. Haniyeh said the movement has given its position to Qatar and Egypt, which is based on a complete cessation of the aggression against Palestinians. He also stressed that Hamas will only release the captives in Gaza under its own conditions. Haniyeh noted that 2024 is the year of liberation for all Palestinian abductees, adding that there will be no peace and security in the region with Israel present.
