Lebanese, Palestinian resistance leaders discuss ways to achieve ‘real victory’ against Israel

Secretary-General of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah (R), Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement Ziyad al-Nakhalah (C), and Deputy Chief of Hamas's political bureau Saleh al-Arouri meet in Beirut, Lebanon, on October 24, 2023.

The secretary general of the Lebanese resistance movement and high-ranking officials of the Palestinian resistance groups have met to discuss cooperation for retaliatory operations against Israel.

During a meeting in the Lebanese capital city of Beirut on Tuesday, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah reviewed recent events in the Palestinian territories with Deputy Chief of Hamas’s political bureau Saleh al-Arouri and Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement Ziyad al-Nakhalah.

They exchanged views about the unfolding developments in the Gaza Strip as well as on the border between Lebanon and the 1948 Israeli-occupied territories, after Gaza-based resistance fighters launched an unprecedented attack, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, in the occupied territories in response to Israel’s relentless atrocities against Palestinians.

“A comprehensive review of both international and regional stances was at the center of negotiations between the high-profile resistance leaders,” a statement released by Hezbollah’s media bureau read.

“Nasrallah and Palestinian resistance leaders also assessed the appropriate measures that need to be taken at the current critical stage in order to achieve a conclusive victory over the Israeli enemy, and stop brutal Israeli assaults against the oppressed Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank.”

The meeting came on the same day Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem stated that the Lebanese resistance movement is at the core of the regional resistance campaign to defend the Gaza Strip against the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Sheikh Qassem said in a post published on social media that Hezbollah has its “finger on the trigger” to whatever extent it deems necessary to defend Gaza and to face off the occupiers of Palestine.

He said the United States and Europe should be held accountable for the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime of Israel against children and women in Gaza.

Hezbollah has warned that it will join the Palestinian resistance in the fight against Israel if the occupying regime escalates its aggression on Gaza and in case foreign military forces intervene to help the Israeli regime in the battle.

Israel waged the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.

The death toll in Gaza since the start of Israeli aggression has exceeded 6,000 with more than 18,000 wounded, according to WAFA news agency.

Tel Aviv has also blocked water, food, and electricity to Gaza, plunging the besieged territory into a humanitarian crisis.

The regime has further ordered 1.1 million people in the north of Gaza to evacuate and move south of the blockaded territory.
