More than 70 Palestinians have been killed and many more injured as the Israeli military aircraft pounded various residential neighborhoods across the Gaza Strip overnight, medical authorities say.
Palestinian media outlets reported on Monday that the air raids targeted buildings in the eastern flanks of Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip, the border town of Rafah, and elsewhere in the territory.
According to the reports, one of the strikes left 17 people dead as Israeli fighter jets flattened a house in Jabalia city, located 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) north of Gaza City.
Another 25 people were killed in raids in the central sector of the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that “at least ten bodies were recovered from under the rubble” after an Israeli raid destroyed a house in Deir al-Balah city in the central Gaza Strip on Monday morning.
The death toll from the Israeli air raids on Rafah has also risen to 29, according to medical officials.
The officials added that most of the fatalities included women and children.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that an Israeli strike hit a family home in the Tal al-Sultan district of Rafah, killing and injuring a number of people.
In the al-Qaizan neighborhood of Khan Younis, Israeli warplanes bombed a house, killing at least seven people, including an infant.
Moreover, Israeli artillery units conducted attacks on residential areas in the eastern parts of the Gaza Strip, killing and injuring several people.
Palestinian officials say more than 400 people have been killed in the last 24 hours.
Israeli air strikes hit near al-Shifa, al-Quds hospitals
Israeli fighter jets also targeted areas near al-Shifa and al-Quds hospitals in Gaza with “several missiles,” according to the Wafa news agency.
A doctor at the al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza said that 65 percent of the casualties taken to the medical facility overnight were children.
The director of al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza also said the hospital was on the brink of a “real disaster.”
Indonesia Hospital in northern Gaza warned that doctors may be forced to halt surgeries if it does not get fuel to run the facility. The vicinity of the hospital was also hit by Israel on Monday.
Thirty bodies recovered after Israeli aerial attack in Jabalia
The Palestinian Civil Defense announced it had recovered at least 30 bodies from the rubble following an Israeli air strike on Jabalia.
The emergency rescue organization said most of the bodies were women and children. Local sources said there is still a “large number” of people trapped under the rubble.
Health officials in Gaza say the Israeli bombardment has killed at least 4,741 people since October 7, when fighters from the Hamas resistance movement launched an unprecedented large-scale attack against the occupying Israeli regime. Another 15,898 individuals have also been injured.
