The Iranian national team has kept its record unblemished at the Men's Hockey5s Asia Cup Salalah 2023 in Oman and extended its winning streak at the continental sports event to four.
On Thursday, the Iranian squad pulled off a crushing 12-2 victory against Afghanistan in its fourth group stage match in Challenger Pool.
Zabihollah Rahchamani scored four goals for Iran, while Navid Taherirad, Mahdi Shahrokhi, Mohammad Reza Sa’adat and Mohammad Ali Salehipour got two goals each.
The emphatic victory came a day after the Iranians defeated the Kazakh team 12-8 in their third fixture at the tournament.
Salehipour and Rahchamani scored five and two goals respectively, while Amir Mahdi Mirzakhani, Aref Hamedi, Taherirad, Shahrokhi and Sa’adat each netted once for Iran.
Earlier on Wednesday, Iran beat Indonesia 5-3 in its second encounter.
Iran secured a convincing 7-2 victory over Hong Kong in its opening match held on Tuesday.
The Iranian national team is scheduled to take on Japan in its next match on Friday.
Iran was pitted against Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Kazakhstan in the Challenger Pool, while Bangladesh, India, Japan, Malaysia, Oman and Pakistan formed the Elite Pool.
The Men's Hockey5s Asia Cup Salalah 2023 started in Oman on August 29, and will conclude on September 2.
