Today I've come here to a research lab where they've created a relatively new substance that is not necessarily meant to fix a particular issue or address a problem, but rather to quench a very prevalent thirst among the scientist community.
And this research lab is actually right here at the Amir Kabir University. In the race among scientists to discover the world's craziest metamaterial, the best superconductor, the world's lightest material, physicists theorized the possibility of achieving a material called graphene, which is exfoliating a layer of carbon from graphite, many layers of carbon.
Now, this remained a theory up until 2004, when material scientists found the way to do it. And it was such an important discovery that the discoverers were awarded Nobel Prizes.
