Britain witnessed its first coronation in seven decades on Saturday, culminating King Charles III's long journey from heir to monarch. The glittering festivities at Westminster Abbey in London were, however, marred by widespread protests and arrests of anti-monarchy activists.
The pomp, ceremony and millions spent on the state-sponsored spectacle did little to mask the disquiet surrounding the crowning of the new monarch.
