Palestinians in Gaza, including resistance factions, non-governmental organizations, academics, and civil society groups held a national conference on Sunday to condemn the Aqaba Summit.
The meeting between Israeli and Palestinian Authority officials was held in the Jordanian Red Sea resort of Aqaba. It was also attended by representatives from the United States and Egypt.
Speaking to Press TV, the spokesman for the Hamas resistance movement said that the Aqaba Summit aims to cover up the Israeli regime’s ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people.
The summit comes only days after Israeli regime forces killed around a dozen Palestinians and wounded some 90 others in the occupied West Bank City of Nablus.
In its final communiqué, the conference in Gaza stressed the importance of increasing all forms of resistance against the Israeli occupation and protecting occupied al-Quds and al-Aqsa Mosque against all Israeli plots.
Palestinians maintain that the Aqaba Summit aims to sow seeds of division among Palestinians and to suppress resistance groups in the occupied West Bank.
Many Palestinians believe that the Palestinian Authority has become a haven for small Palestinian factions that have long abandoned the path of resistance against the Israeli occupation.
Since the start of this year, over sixty Palestinians, including thirteen children, have been killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank. Analysts say the Aqaba Summit will only give Tel Aviv the green light to kill and maim more Palestinians.
