Iran have cruised into the knockout stages of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup in Kuwait, with a 10-1 thrashing of Chinese Taipei in their second match of Group C.
The 12-time champions who beat Indonesia 5-nil in their opener, were sizzling as they raced to a 6-goal lead going into the break, with Ahmad Abbasi having a hat-trick to his name.
Team Melli burst into the second half, and scored 2 more goals by the 28th minute mark. However, they couldn’t hold onto a clean sheet and conceded 3 minutes later.
There was no letting up from Iran though, with Mahdi Karimi finding the net in the 35th minute before Hossein Tayebi scored Iran's 10th goal to put the game to bed.
The dominant victory sees Vahid Shamsaee’s team through to the quarter-finals. But before that, they have to play Lebanon on Sunday to conclude the group stage.
