On September 11th, 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four passenger jetliners and crashed them into major US buildings. The attacks, killing nearly 3000 people, were claimed by the al-Qaeda terrorist group. The United States responded to the attacks by invading Afghanistan, despite the fact that no Afghan was involved in the attacks.
