Palestinian youth injured in Israeli raid on occupied West Bank succumbs

A young Palestinian man has succumbed to the wounds he sustained two weeks ago when Israeli forces carried out a raid on the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, killing three Palestinians, including a high-ranking resistance commander.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing local sources, reported that Mohammad Arayshi lost his life early on Tuesday.

The report cited sources as saying that Arayshi was shot on August 9, when Israeli troops surrounded and opened fire on a building in the Old City of Nablus, where Ibrahim al-Nabulsi – the commander of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades -- had holed up. The gunfight lasted for several hours.

Nabulsi, 19, was killed along with Islam Sabbouh, 32, and 16-year-old Hussein Jamal Taha.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said more than 60 others were wounded, four of whom were in critical condition.

Israeli military kills three Palestinians, injures scores in incursion in Nablus

The Israeli military has killed three Palestinians and injured more than forty others during an incursion into the northern occupied West Bank city of Nablus.

Nabulsi, known popularly as “the lion of Nablus,” had survived several assassination attempts by Israel.

His public appearances at the funerals of his fellow comrades had further infuriated Israeli forces.

Tensions have been running high in the occupied territories after the Israeli regime carried out a new massacre in the Gaza Strip on August 5, killing nearly 50 Palestinians, including Taysir al-Jabari, a senior commander of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement.

The Israeli airstrikes prompted the al-Quds Brigades, the Islamic Jihad’s military wing, to respond by firing hundreds of rockets toward the occupied territories, pushing the regime forces on the back foot.

The strong retaliation, as was pledged by the resistance group, forced Tel Aviv to accept an Egyptian-mediated ceasefire, which took effect late on August 7.
