The International Olympic Committee has called for a ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes from international events, following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The IOC urged Sports Federations and Organizers to exclude Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from international events. The recommendation could trigger further announcements, with football's world governing body, FIFA, to suspend Russia until further notice from the 2022 World Cup.
FIFA had earlier ruled that Russia must complete their upcoming games in neutral territory, under the title 'Football Union of Russia', and without their flag and anthem. In a separate decision, European football’s governing body, UEFA, on Friday, voted to move this season’s champions league final, which had been scheduled to be played in Saint Petersburg to Paris.
